Cross hatched contour lined kangaroos. Nice. With watercolor paint, copic markers, and ink. Nice.
1. What was your most sucessful project? My 2nd blind portrait. It was my first time using my new watercolor palette and sketchbook, and it was a wild success! I've always fancied myself as good with watercolor, and I'm proud of what I was able to do with this silly, whimsical project. 2. If you could do one project over again differently, what would you do this second time around? What changes would you make and why? I would probably do my "essential question" project over again. I liked what I did, just not how I did it. Long story short, I hate pastels. With a burning passion. I'll never touch them again in my life. 3. Compare two different projects.
Well, why don't I use the two pieces above me? I love animals, and all of my projects usually are animal-centered. This is true of both of t he pieces above me. 4. What artistic behaviors have you seen or done that would make and interesting new unit? I see lots of people tracing computer images onto paper using the projector. I mean, I get the whole "artists steal" thing, but that's pretty much just copying, huh? So, how about tracing an image onto your paper, but finding someway to completely transform it and make it your own to the point where the original image is almost unrecognizeable? I think that would be cool. My blind portrait was very good at crying and loved dogs. So voila- dogs and crying. Really deep stuff.
"Birds of a feather flock together." Usually used to describe people who have common interests. But what if it's taken literally?
My teens inspired piece is based off of an artwork called "Night Flight of Dread and Delight." I immediately knew I wanted to celebrate the season and do something Halloween-esque with it. I did some seasonal beasts in flight, like the original piece, but used watercolor instead of oil and collage like the original. The whimsical design of the creatures inspired my creatures, and they many stars in the sky of the original prompted my dots of acrylic white paint to represent the same. The original looked more like collage, like the artist had taken many pieces from many different sources and pasted them together to make something completely different. The artist also added oil, presumably for the sky and background in general. I like watercolor, so I decided to make my own interpretation using watercolor and acrylic paint. The original artist used two mediums, and I followed and did the same, and I'm pleased with the way it turned out.
My values project was based around value and shape. I created a pattern that when bound together resembles the shape of a weasel. The shape isn't really there, but the pattern and the use of positive and negative space makes your eyes think that a clear outline is there.
This is my journaling project. I was so excited for autumn that I decided to get in the spirit early. I drew a rooster and cut it out, then taped it onto the page so the paint wouldn't cover that part of the page. I then painted the page with reds, oranges, yellows and browns, using a sheet of textured paper to give it texture. After that, I glued fake leaves to the page, even though they kind of blended in with the paint. :/ Maybe I should've glued them on the other page. Oh well. I like it
